Next polls will be held in due time: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said you don't have of fabricating ‘interim issue’ in the name of interim parliamentary elections as the polls will be held in due time and the people will decide who'll run the government.
“A clique is talking about the interim government. We want to say that the Awami League formed the government after getting the people’s mandate. So, if you would like the changeover of the federal government, you will need to wait till another election,” he said.
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, was addressing a discussion arranged by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) marking the birth centenary of Father of the country Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He joined it through video conferencing from his official residence on parliament premises.
He said Awami League (AL) doesn’t search for secret alleyways to visit power since it has absolute rely upon this soil and its own people.
AL wants to win the hearts of folks through development activities, not by hatching conspiracy, he said.
The AL general secretary said if the people give their verdict towards AL within the next general polls, it'll again form a government and if the persons usually do not want AL, it will step down.
He said BNP leaders are making the same allegations every year that there surely is no democracy in the united states but they themselves did not believe in democracy.
How a party without any democracy within itself would establish democracy in the united states, he questioned.
The minister said in the democratic system, changeover of government takes place through elections but BNP will not want to participate in polls.
Even if they be a part of elections, they do it for eyewash to make the polls questionable, he added.
