Nat'l advisory body formed to tackle virus challenges

A national technical advisory committee has been formed to advise the federal government how to tackle the challenges of the problem created following a community transmission of coronavirus.

MEDICAL  Ministry has formed the 17-members expert committee, headed by senior child professional Dr M Shahidullah, also the president of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. 

Former BSMMU vice chancellor Prof Nazrul Islam (Virologist) and Bangladesh Diabetec Association president Prof AK Azad Khan are among the committee membrs.

An order in this regard was issued on Saturday.

The committee has been formed following increase of COVID-19 related deaths in the country.

Bangladesh reported 84 deaths and 2,144 infected from coronavirus till Saturday from March 8. Through the period, some 66 people recovered.

The committee will advise the federal government about preventive measures for COVID-19, enhancing the typical of service in hospitals and about the necessary measures for increasing capability of the physicians engaged in providing health service.

Besides, the committee will give its suggestion regarding what incentives could be directed at the physicians for encouraging them and research on inventing coronavirus vaccine.
