Nasrul: Mega power tasks happening for 3,840MW
State Minister for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Solutions Nasrul Hamid offers said mega jobs having 3,840 MW power generation capacity are actually being implementing at Payra, Maheshkhali and Matarbari areas targeted at ensuring electricity and energy security found in the country.

“Considering territory availability, fuel transportation features and load centers, the government has been developing Payra, Maheshkhali and Matarbari areas seeing that ‘Vitality Hubs’ by establishing mega projects,” he explained while exchanging sights with little teachers and college students of Cumilla University by a webinar about Wednesday night.

Social Research Group of Cumilla University organised the live webinar titled “The continuing future of Bangladesh’s Energy Sector” that was moderated by Associate Professor Krishna Kumar Saha, reports BSS.

The state minister said the construction work for establishing coal-fired Rampal 1,320 MW Maitri Super Thermal Project, Matarbari 1,200 MW Ultra very Critical Coal Project and Payra 1,320 MW project 're going in full swing.

“The power and energy section could be more secured due to the interest and knowing of the young generation. Of study course, awareness will ensure performance and economical make use of electricity and strength,” Nasrul Hamid said.

Referring to days gone by, present and future state of the energy and energy sector, he said Japan International Cooperation Firm (JICA) formulated the energy System Get better at Plan (PSMP)-2010 based on people’s money, environment, growth and use of energy.

Emphasizing in rooftop solar power, he said the federal government developed net metering rules to ensure the country’s energy reliability and sustainability and maximize renewable energy to ten percent from the total generation.

At the moment, 1,160 MW of electricity is being imported from India. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Nepal and negotiation is definitely finalized to import 500 MW from an IPP, Nasrul said.

He mentioned that there are 27 gas areas in the united states, of which 20 are in production. In January 2009, the daily gas development was 1744 million cubic feet per day, which has risen to about 2750 mmcfd. Hand and hand, 600 mmcfd imported LNG has been added to the countrywide grid, he said.
