Nasim’s condition is crucial
Senior Awami League leader and former health minister Mohammed Nasim’s condition is critical now, family sources said.
The former health minister is kept on ventilation within an intensive care unit (ICU) of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka. The doctors will need the next decision after 72 hours, they added.
Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua told Banglanews: “On Friday, Nasim suffered a stroke and had to immediately undergo a surgery, which was successful. Following the surgery, he has been kept under close observation for 48 hours. We requested everyone to pray for the senior leader of the Awami League.”
Mohammed Nasim, a presidium person in the ruling party, was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on June 1, after he tested positive for Covid-19.
Nasim, son of M Mansur Ali, among the four national leaders killed in jail on November 3, 1975, had also served as home minister for the Awami League government in 1996. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina subsequently appointed him as health minister during her government’s next tenure.
