Sathi Begum and her day labourer husband stay in a tin shed room at Bank Colony area in Savar, outskirt of the administrative centre Dhaka. Amid the federal government enforced lengthy holiday to prevent coronavirus infection the family have grown to be stranded at their room. The husband is becoming penniless. Therefore, the family has been passing their days through untold sufferings.
Earlier, Sathi's family managed their expenses through her husband's earnings, but as the stringent general holiday has forced Sathi's husband to confined with their room, he can't go outside for work and there is absolutely no food to in their home for their survival.
In a tragic turn of life, Sathi sold her hair to feed her two minor children.
An affectionate mother bought milk to feed her children while two kilograms of rice to cook for the family with the money.
Speaking with this correspondent, Sathi said, “We are living in this rented tin shed house for just one month. My husband is a day labourer but this time he is jobless as a result of coronavirus holiday.”
“I've sold my hair merely to feed my two minor boys, one is 18-months-old while another two-and-a-half years old,” said emotional Sathi.
Savar Upazila assistant commissioner (Land) Abdullah Al Mahfuz said, “We heard the problem from journalists. That is a matter of great sorrow.”
Relief materials would be provided to the family as soon as possible, he asserted.
