Mother, daughter commit suicide in Sirajganj
A woman and her teenage daughter allegedly committed suicide by hanging in Railway Colony area of Sirajganj municipal area on Wednesday (Oct 10).
The deceased were identified as Sumi Khatun, 40, wife of one Abdul Mannan and their daughter Mala Khatun, 14, ninth grade student of SB Railway Colony School and College.
According to locals, Mala had a relationship with a local youth Monir and some three days ago she fled to Monir’s house claiming to marry him. Her father brought her back and then beat up mother and daughter. Following the assault, the duo committed suicide. Later locals had taken them to Sirajganj sadar hospital where duty doctor pronounced them dead.
Sirajganj sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Daud told Banglanews that the matter is being investigated.
