4 Bangladeshis dead and 50 injured in Bahrain building collapse
At least four Bangladesh nationals were killed and some 50 other Bangladeshis injured when a building collapsed in Bahrain, said police of the island kingdom.

The deceased were identified as—Abdul Hannan from Kachua upazila of Chandpur, Jakkir from Haziganj upazila, Joynal from Brahmanpara upazila of Comilla and Alo Mia. Alo Mia’s home district in Bangladesh couldn’t be identified immediately.

Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain confirmed the news at early hours of Thursday (Oct 11).

The building was an old one that collapsed Tuesday in Salmaniya, a neighborhood of Bahrain’s capital Manama, said Bahrain’ Interior Ministry.

The two-story residential building housed foreign laborers. The building is believed to have collapsed when a cooking gas cylinder exploded, reports The National.

The injuries were “medium and serious,” without elaborating, and that 60 rescuers with firetrucks and ambulances responded.

The police updated the casualty figures Wednesday on Twitter, saying that three bodies were retrieved at the site, while one victim died at a hospital as reported by Arab News.

However, family members and acquaintances of the victims were asked to call 33375155, for support from the embassy in Bahrain.
