Monem Munna’s two jerseys sold at Tk 5.1 lakh
Two jerseys belonging to former Bangladesh national soccer staff captain Monem Munna fetched Tk 10.65 lakh at an auction.

Auction 4 Action, a charitable organisation that plans to utilize the money to greatly help the persons in need during the coronavirus pandemic, put up the jerseys for auction on Saturday night.

Carnival Net bought Munna's national group jersey for Tk 3 lakh even while his famous number 2 2 jersey, which he donned for Abahani, fetched Tk 2.1 lakh. HSBC deputy CEO Mahbub Ur Rahman bought the jersey beyond the auction, which lasted practically one-and-half hours with previous national footballers Sheikh Mohammad Aslam, Kaiser Hamid, Satyajit Das Rupu, referee Tayeb Hasan and Munna's wife Shurovi Monem in attendance.

The last time Munna wore the historic jersey was when Bangladesh won its first international trophy in 1989, beating a South Korean side to clinch the President's Gold Cup title.

Nevertheless, FIFA referee Tayeb Hasan’s jersey sold for Tk 5.55 lakh, with Satkhira Chamber of Commerce president Nasim Faruk Khan the winning bidder.

Tayeb was wearing the jersey he auctioned while officiating the 2013 SAFF Championship last between India and Afghanistan.
