Momen calls upon UN to resolve Rohingya crisis
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen called upon United Nations (UN) to take urgent steps with a view to resolving the Rohingya crisis.
According to a press release of foreign ministry issued on Tuesday (October 29), the minister made the call while holding a meeting with the Executive Director of UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) David Beasley and its Executive Board President Ambassador Hisham Mohamed in Rome on Monday (October 28).
He emphasized that the WFP needs to do more for voluntary, safe, dignified and sustainable return of Rohingyas to their homeland in Myanmar.
WFP executive director and executive board president assured Momen that WFP would do everything possible within its mandate for early resolution of the Rohingya crisis.
Momen is now on a two-week Europe tour.
