Mohammedan polls Saturday
The much-awaited Annual Basic Assembly and elections of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will be held on Saturday at the city’s Le Meridien hotel.
The voting is scheduled to be held between 02:00pm to 06:00pm following the AGM. A complete of 337 voters are expected to cast their votes to elect a 16-member panel of directors from a complete of 20 candidates.
Former Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Army Standard Abdul Mubeen was earlier elected unopposed as the brand new president on Thursday.
The prospects are - Masuduzzaman, Hanif Bhuiyan, Abu Hasan Chowdhury Prince, Khojesta-Nur-e-Nahrin, Jamal Rana, Kazi Firoz Rashid, Mostakur Rahman, Mahbub-ul Anam, Golam Md Alamgir, Kabir Ahmad Bhuiyan, Moin Uddin Hasan Rashid, Mostafa Kamal, Abdus Salam Murshedy, Shafiqul Islam Mohiuddin, Siddiqur Rahman, Dato Ikramul Haque, Manjur Alam, Sajeed A Adel, Kamrun Nahar Dana and AGM Sabbir.
Abu Hasan Chowdhury Prince told The Daily Sunshine on Friday that he was expecting a fair election.
“The election will take place after quite a while. We are prepared for that. I hope we will receive a fair election,” Prince explained.
Another candidate Sajeed A good Adel believed that the voters would elect the proper prospects in the elections.
“The election will be held after quite a while. I hope that the election will become fair and the voters will elect the proper applicants there,” he said.
Former MSC President Obaidul Karim and former director-in fee Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan didn’t submit their nomination papers.
The last election of MSC happened in 2011 when Obaidul Karim was elected the MSC president. On the other hand, the committee was dissolved by a courtroom after a number of the club members filed a petition relating to some membership issues.
After a long-term court case, the Supreme Court gave a stay order of the lower court and appointed Attorney General and President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association Executive Committee Adv AM Amin Uddin as an independent president of the club in 2018.
