Microsoft refreshes its Surface family
Microsoft took the wraps off its latest Surface devices — the Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2 at an event in New York. While the long-rumoured Surface Phone still didn't make its way to the market, the company did announce a new set of Surface headphones for the first time. Furthermore, the giant has also started rolling out the Windows 10 October 2018 update, coupled with new features.

To begin with, the Surface Pro 6 is built around the latest 8th-Gen Intel quad-core processor. The new Surface Pro 6 is claimed to offer up to 13.5 hours of battery life and is said to be 67 per cent more powerful than its predecessor. It features a 12.3-inch ‘PixelSense Touch Display,’ and offers up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. Sadly, it has an identical external design as the previous Surface Pro, meaning, it doesn't include a USB-Type C port. The latest Surface Pro 6 comes in a Black colour variant and the price starts from $899 (approximately Rs 65,901). It will be released on October 16. As of now, it is unknown whether the device will be able to make its way on the Indian shores.

Next up is the Surface laptop 2, it is said to be 85 per cent faster than the original Surface laptop — all thanks to Intel's 8th-Gen quad-core processor. Similar to the Surface Pro 6, it also doesn't have USB-Type C ports. The company says that the thermal management system has been redesigned for the latest device by updating the passive cooling when there are massive workloads on the machine. Furthermore, it is claimed to offer up to 14.5 hours of battery life. It comes with a starting price of $999 (approx Rs 73,231).

Moving ahead, Microsoft has also launched the Surface Studio 2, which features a 28-inch PixelSense touchscreen with pen and control dial support. It is powered by a 64-bit Intel Core i7-7820 quad-core processor aided by up to 32GB RAM/ 2TB SSD and GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. It is a professional computing device that comes with a price label of $3,500 (approx Rs2,56,000).

Lastly, the company also showed off its Surface headphones for the first time. The headset offers active noise cancellation as well as touch controls on one of the earcups. There is also Cortana voice assistant built-in. The device has 40mm drivers, 4 beamforming mics, and 4 active noise cancelling mics. The headphones costs $349 (approx Rs 25,500).
