Microsoft’s ‘Desktop-as-a-Service’ plan could ensure stable Windows 10 PCs
Microsoft’s idea of ‘Windows-as-a-Service’ has been going well for themselves and the customers. Windows 10 keeps getting the latest features and updated security protection twice in a year presently with two-mega updates planned every year. While that may be good news for casual users, businesses and firms have to face the nightmare of ensuring compatibility of their software with the latest updates. However, Microsoft seems to fix it for businesses with a new business model.
According to a report from ZDNet, Microsoft could be looking to offer Desktop-as-a-Service plan, under which Microsoft will take care of all the updates and their compatibility with existing software. In exchange, Microsoft will charge a fee on a monthly basis. If the leaks are to be believed, Microsoft could eventually call this Microsoft 365 Managed Desktop.
As noticed by Petri, in one of their latest job postings on the web, Microsoft mentions the service as a part of the job. “Microsoft 365 Managed Desktop (MMD) is a new, per-user subscription service that enables customers with devices that can take advantage of the latest productivity tools and technologies (Device as a Service) in a secure, monitored, and supported IT environment (IT as a Service),” states the post.
While there’s still no official confirmation on this, it is expected that Microsoft could introduce this service on their Surface devices initially, before slowly rolling it out across all business devices, including desktop PCs. It could come across as a great option for those wanting stable operating systems with no bugs and software incompatibility issues.
