MC College gang rape: One more accused held
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested another accused from Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet district early Monday in a case filed over Friday's gang rape of a female at MC College in Sylhet.

Arrested person is Rajon Ahmed, 28.

With him, five accused of the case have, up to now, been arrested.

 A team of  RAB-9 raided Rajon's relative's house in Kochua Noyatila area in the upazila around 1:00am and arrested him, said the RAB  sources.

In addition they arrested his associate, Ainul, for assisting him to go into hiding.

Previously Sunday night, accused No. 3 Mahbubur Rahman Rony, 28, was arrested by RAB from Shayestaganj while accused No. 5 Rabiul Islam were arrested by RAB and police respectively. With them, four accused of the case have up to now been arrested.

On Sunday morning, prime accused Saifur Rahman was arrested from Kheyghat area under Chhatak upazila in Sunamganj district, while Arjun Laskar was arrested from Montola border area under Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj district.

 On September 25, a woman was gang raped allegedly by several BCL activists at MC College on Friday night while visiting there with her husband. 

They forcibly took the couple to the school hostel at Tilagarh area at about 8:30pm, tying the husband and raped the wife, said the authorities station OC Abdul Qayyum citing the case statement.

On information, police rescued the duo and sent the girl to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 10:00pm.

However, the victim's husband lodged a case with the authorities station at early hours of Saturday against nine persons mentioning the name of six BCL men.

A three-member probe committee has been formed with Prof Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, a teacher of the Department of Mathematics of the MC College, as convener to probe the incident.

Besides, two guards--Darwan Rasel Mia and Chowkidar Sabuj Ahmed Ruhan--of the hostel have been suspended for "negligence in duty."
