Many BNP leaders waiting to join AL, says Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said many BNP leaders are eagerly waiting for the green signal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to join the Awami League.
He came up with the comment at a press conference at AL president political office in city’s Dhanmondi.
Awami League organised the press conference to present its stance on the allegations recently raised by BNP leaders.
“We want such election which will be competitive one and the people will decide which party will go to power,” said Quader, BSS reports.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said BNP has already realised that it has no scope to go to power through a free and fair polls as the country’s people are disturbed by their negative activities.
By launching attack on police and torching on police vehicles during the distribution of party nomination papers at Naya Paltan, BNP has proved again that the party is a terrorist organisation, he said.
“Police arrested some terrorists who were involved in the attack. Is it a political arrest?” Quader questioned.
The AL general secretary said no one will get mercy if he or she creates any anarchy centering the polls. “We hope that a peaceful and congenial atmosphere will remain in the country till the upcoming elections and the polls will be held in a free, fair and peaceful manner with participation of all political parties.”
He said the country’s people know that who would come to state power. But, he said, the people hope that Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina will come to power again.
AL organising secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, its deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin and central executive committee member SM Kamal Hossain were, among others, present at the press conference.
