Mamunur Rashid receives lifetime honor
Legendary theatre personality and Ekushey Padak winner playwright, director and actor Mamunur Rashid received lifetime achievement award at the concluding ceremony of 'Bottola Rangamela 2019', reports UNB. The festival was held at the Liberation War Museum in the city's Agargaon on Tuesday.

Professor Shafi Ahmed gave away the award to Mamunur Rashid for his immense contribution to the country's cultural arena as a renowned theatre activist.

"I am really honored to receive this award from this International Theatre Fest which is arranged by  'BotTala' that portrayed beautiful and meaningful creations in one place for the last 11 days ", said Mamunur Rashid expressing his gratitude.

Like the previous years, eight divisional theatre activists have been awarded for their contribution to promote theatre in the country during the festival.

After the award-giving ceremony, a drama titled 'Khona' (Bangladesh) was staged at the venue. The drama is written by Samina Lutfa Nitra and directed by Mohammad Ali Haider.

Ten other dramas - Crutch er Colonel (Bangladesh), Amar Mukher Anchalkhani (India), Dilemmas Witch My Flamenco Tailcoat (Spain), Mysterious Gift (Iran), 4.48 Psychosis (Nepal), Biswa Mangal (India), Macbeth (Bangladesh), Shluk (India), Blackhole (India) and Acharya Profulla Chandra (India) are being staged every day from the opening day.

The festival started on November 16, also featured screening of documentaries, discussions, songs, dances, recitations, three master classes on several aspects of stage dramas and five documentaries on prominent Bangladeshi and Indian dramatists.
