Kings to get compensation from AFC!
Asian  Football Confederation informally asked Bashundhara Kings to send their financial losses after the sudden postponement of the AFC Cup Group D matches in Maldives in May, informed a Kings official to The Daily Sun on Saturday.

“An AFC competition official informally told me in WhatsApp to submit a paper on our expenditure of the cancelled tour,” the Kings official said.

“We almost spent Tk 60 lakh including flight tickets, campaign costs, hotel bookings etc. We don't know if they will give any compensation or not but we will send the all papers,” added the Kings official.

The decision of the postponement came just a few hours before Kings’ flight to Maldives as the hosts expressed their inability to host the tournament due to the rise of Covid-19 infections and travel restrictions in the country.

The current Bangladesh Premier League champions, which suffered financial losses due to the sudden decision, wrote AFC with several proposals and requested them to declare the group champions, as per clause 54.1.3 of AFC Cup 2021.

Kings also informed them about their financial losses, though they hadn’t mentioned any amount on that letter.
