IU teachers, students demand arrest of VC attackers
Teachers and students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia formed a human chain on Monday for the third consecutive day, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers on Vice Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari.
IU Rover Scout Group and BNCC of the university brought out separate protest processions on the campus.
Later, they held a human chain rally where Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, Secretary of IU Rover Scout Group Professor Ruhul KM Saleh, Chief Coordinating Officer of BNCC Professor M Jahangir Hossain, Proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman condemned the attack and demanded the exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
Shapla Forum, the progressive teachers’ alliance of the university, also formed a human chain on the premises of the ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural demanding immediate punishment of VC’s attackers.
Professor M Mahbubur Rahman of Information and Communication Engineering department, Professor M Mahbubul Arfin of Tourism and Hospitality Management department, Professor M Mahbubar Rahman of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, Professor M Anwar Hossain of Islamic History and Culture department, Professor Mohm Anowarul Haque of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department, Professor M Shahadat Hossain Azad of English department and more than hundreds teachers of various departments of the university took part in the human chain programme.
VC Hanun-Ur-Rashid Askari came under attack on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway near Bordah of Jhenaidah on January 26 while returning from Dhaka.
