Huawei Mate X launch 'will have to wait', say officials
As Samsung and Huawei race to launch the world’s first commercially available foldable smartphone amidst a hoard of waiting fans, Huawei has made it clear that they are in no hurry to launch the device, and would wait till all the issues and bugs have been ironed out, rather than provide an incomplete device in the market.

Though the Mate X did not face durability issues and controversies like the Galaxy Fold, it is still not available for the general public to purchase. In a recent interview, Huawei director He Gang revealed that the Huawei Mate X is still a while away from hitting the shelves.

He Gang stated that the company is still working on optimising and perfecting the Mate X to go with the company’s quality standards. Gang further admitted that the process was more challenging for the engineering team than they originally expected.

The Mate X as well as the relaunch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold are both close by, hitting us in September this year. However Huawei declines to be in a race with their rivals.

“We have invested heavily in Mate X. As for when Samsung’s device will hit the market, it is not a key point for us to consider. The key point we consider is to hope that consumers can get this product when they get it. We ensure high-quality products with good consumer experience,” said He Gang.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu was recently spotted at an airport with his own Huawei Mate X and when asked about the launch, responded by saying “it will have to wait”. Even a month away from the launch, it isn’t clear which of the two brands, if any, will be able to launch their rendition of the foldable smartphone first, that is, without any issues this time.
