HC grants 6-month bail to Khaleda in Narail case
The High Court has granted six-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed against her in Narail over her 'offensive remarks' about freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashefa Hussain passed the order on Monday after hearing a petition filed by the BNP chief's lawyer on last Thursday.

Earlier on August 5, a Narail court rejected the bail petition.

UNB adds : On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs saying, "There're controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There're also many books and documents on the controversies."

Reacting to Khaleda's remarks, Raihan Farooque Imam of Naragati in Narail, filed the case with the Cognisance Court on December 24, 2015.
