Govt prepared for any disaster: Maya
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said as the government is ready to face flood and any other natural calamities, people would not have to get into trouble.
The minister told reporters following a special meeting of Disaster Management Committee in Lalmonirhat on Monday (July 16).
The minister said, “All government directorates are working collectively to combat possible floods after making up for the loss of previous ones. Work is underway in risky areas where flood strikes, including flood embankments. Hopefully, the rest of the work will be finished before the coming flood.”
Motahar Hossain, MP of Lalmonirhat-1 constituency, also standing committee member of primary and mass education ministry, Advocate Sufrah Begum Rumi, MP of the reserved seats, Additional Secretary of the Disaster Management Department Uttam Kumar Das, District Commissioner Shafiul Arif, District Council chairman Advocate Matiyaya Rahman, Police Super SM Rashidul Haque, spoke, among others, at the meeting.
