Govt forms 9th wage board for journalists

DHAKA: The government has formed 9th Wage Board to propose better salary and other benefits for journalists and employees in news organizations.
The information ministry issued an order in this regard on Monday (January 29).
The 13-member Wage Board was formed with Supreme Court Appellate Division's former Justice Mohammed Nizamul Huq as its chairman.
According to the order, the newly formed board will submit report to government within six months. The board will also give recommendations on workers of electronic media after reviewing legal perspectives.
But for the interim period until the formulation of the proposal, the board was entrusted with the task of recommending dearness allowances (DA).
