Govt plans to get ready database of returnees, stranded migrant workers

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has taken an initiative to register the names of all returnees, stranded migrant workers, who couldn’t leave the united states because of COVID-19 pandemic, looking to help them go back to their workplaces, reports BSS.

Various initiatives have already been taken by the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to raise the times of visas and boost the number of flights for workers, who want to go back to their workplaces, the official release said today.

Many workers’ visas or work permits have previously expired, it added.

The information obtained through the registration process will be utilized in carrying out diplomatic efforts and relevant activities.

All workers, who want to go back to their respective workplaces abroad, are requested to join up their names online immediately at the hyperlink of BMET website (www.old.bmet.gov.bd/BMET/returnMigrant).

The registration can be achieved from any smartphone or computer without any fee.
