Govt mulls restart of public transport before Eid: Quader
Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the federal government is considering the resumption of public transport services in the country ahead of Eid.
Addressing the media at his official residence in the administrative centre, the also called after them to show patience through the Covid-19 situation.
The Minister also urged the transport owners and staff not to stage protests over the problem.
The government has already eased the lockdown restrictions on shops and malls by taking into consideration Ramadan, Eid and the needs of employees, he said.
On April 5, public transport services were suspended in Bangladesh as the government announced a countrywide lockdown to support the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the transport owners' association on Friday urged the federal government to immediately resume bus services in the country.
