Gold price surpasses 53 thousand taka per Bhori
Gold prices rise in the international market. So, Bangladesh Jewelers Association has decided to increase the price of gold by Tk. 1,167 per bhori (1 bhori=11.664 gram) in the country market. As a result, price of good quality or 22 carat gold will be Tk. 53,363 per bhori. The new rate will be effective from Wednesday.

Bangladesh Jewelers Association announced the decision to raise the price of gold in a press release on Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm. The Jewelers' Association last raised the price by Tk. 2,041 per bhori on July 3.

From Wednesday, 22 carats of gold per bhori (11.664 gram) will be sold at Tk. 53,363 , 21 carats at Tk. 51,030 and 18 carats at Tk. 46,014 due to increase in price. However, the traditional method gold will be sold at Tk. 26,827 as before. Similarly, the price of silver will not change. Per bhori will cost Tk. 933.

Per bhori of 22 carats of gold was sold at Tk. 52,196 , 21 carats at Tk. 49,864 and 18 carats at Tk. 44,848 till Tuesday. From tomorrow, price of 22, 21 and 18 carats of gold will be increased by Tk. 1,167 per bhori. 

The Jewelers' Association also decided to increase the price of platinum or white gold by Tk. 1,167 per bhori. The price of platinum will be Tk. 65,027 per bhori. Platinum is Tk. 63,860 per bhori till today.

Meanwhile, gold prices in the international market are currently the highest after 7 May, 2013. Today, the price of gold per ounce (31.1034768 gram) is 1,424 USD. The prices have been steadily rising since July 16.

General Secretary of the Jewelers Association Dilip Kumar Agarwala said in the statement that gold prices in the international market have been at the highest level in the last six-seven years. Gold prices have risen in the domestic bullion market. So decision of increasing the price of gold has been taken.
