Four 'pirates' killed in Sundarbans 'gunfight'
Four suspected members of a pirate gang were killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Chandpai Range of Sundarbans at Tuesday 12:00 midnight.
ASP Mizanur Rahman, senior assistant director of legal and media wing of RAB, confirmed the matter this morning, reports a Bangla online portal.
The RAB official said the pirate gang opened fire on RAB while patrolling in Jongrar Khal area, prompting the elite force members to fire back that triggered a gun battle.
After about an hour long gunfight, RAB recovered four bodies, including the gang head, from the scene.
Later, huge quantity of arms and bullets were recovered from the spot, the RAB official added.
