Ferry services on Kathalbari-Shimulia route suspended
Ferry services on Kathalbari-Shimulia route has been suspended due to poor navigability and severe stream in the Padma river.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended the operations around 3:00am on Saturday, confirmed Kathalbari Ferry Ghat manager Abdus Salam Mia.
BIWTA Assistant General Manager Nasir Uddin Chowdhury said no ferry could enter the channel due to poor navigability. “Dredging work is underway to restore navigability,” he added.
