Exhibition features books penned by Sheikh Hasina
A seven-day book exhibition featuring books penned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commenced at Shamsur Rahman Seminar Hall premises of Bangla Academy on Wednesday.

Bangla Academy has arranged the exhibition marking the 73rd birth anniversary of Sheikh Hasina.

The exhibition features a total of 28 books penned by the prime minister including 'Amader Chhoto Russel Shona', 'Shamorik Bonam Ganatontro', 'Ora Tokai Keno', 'Bangladesh-ey Shoirotontrer Jonmo', 'People and Democracy', 'Amra Jonogoner Katha Bolte Esechi' and others.

Besides, 89 books penned on Sheikh Hasina by other writers have also been displayed at the exhibition. State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on Wednesday. Secretary for cultural affairs ministry Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal was present as the special guest at the ceremony.

Bangla Academy chairman national professor Anisuzzaman presided over the programme, while director general of Bangla academy Habibullah Siraji delivered the welcome speech. Deputy Director of Bangla Academy Dr Mohammad Shahadat Hossain anchored the program.

'The first book penned by Sheikh Hasina "Ora Tokai Keno" was published in 1988. With this exhibition we are celebrating our prime minister's 3-decade-long literary journey,' said Habibullah Siraji.

'Sheikh Hasina is not only a great leader and politician but also a successful writer,' said KM Khalid.Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal said, 'Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has depicted her affection towards the nation and its people in her write-ups.

She has proven her skill as an author following in the footsteps of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.' The inauguration ceremony also featured a cultural show. Poet Ruby Rahman, Muhammad Samad, Mohammad Showkat Ali, Ahkam Ullah and Dalia Ahmed recited poems. Rezwana Choudhury Bannya rendered Tagore songs and Khairul Anam Shakil rendered Nazrul songs.

 They were accompanied by Iftekhar Alam Prodran on tabla, Ashit Biswas on esraj and Iftekhar Hossain Sohel on keyboard.
