ECNEC okays Tk 1,400cr project to construct 30 paddy silos
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved a Tk 1,400.22 crore job to create some 30 silos across the country having center of paddy drying, preservation and different related facilities with a standard storage capacity of just one 1.50 lakh tons.

The approval originated from the 26th getting together with of the ECNEC held today with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the seat.

The premier presided over the meeting practically from her official Ganobhaban residence. Ministers, express ninisters and Setting up Commission customers joined the assembly from the NEC conference bedroom in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.

After the meeting, Arranging Minister MA Mannan told reporters a total of 10 projects were approved today involving a standard estimated cost of Taka 6,651.34 crore.

He said: “Of the total project cost, Taka 5,219.81 crore should come from the federal government of Bangladesh, Taka 794.03 crore from the organization’s own fund while Taka 637.50 crore as job assistance.”

The Directorate Standard of Food beneath the Ministry of Meals will implement the project to the end for constructing 30 paddy silos with an estimated cost of Taka 1,400.22 crore with full government fund to come to be completed by December 2023.

The silos will be constructed at 30 upazilas under 24 districts of all eight divisions of the united states.
The selected upazilas or pourashavas where these silos will be constructed are Kotiadi, Mirzapur, Tangail Sadar, Faridpur Sadar, Haluaghat, Melandoho, Sribordi, Brahmanbaria Sadar, Noakhali Sadar, Cumilla Sadar, Dinajpur Sadar, Birol, Thakurgaon Sadar, Boda, Hatibandha, Shibpur, Raninagar, Ishwardi, Nondigram, Sherpur, Khetlal, Kanaighat, Shayestaganj, Sunamganj Sadar, Narail Sadar, Kumarkhali, Charfashion, Patuakhali Sadar and Kalapara.

Meanwhile, the other tasks approved found in the ECNEC assembly are: building of Nolua-Baherchar bridge above the Pandab-Paira River on the Barishal (Dinerarpool) Lakshmipasha-Dumki Highway involving around Taka 1,023.50 crore, upgrading of Modhupur-Mymensingh national highway into due regular and width at a cost of around Taka 1,107.17 crore, building of River port at Chilmari (Ramna, Jorgach, Rajibpur, Roumari, Noyahut) at a price of around Taka 235.59 crore, improving training capacity of BPATC, 1st revised with an additional cost of Taka 348.61 crore, modernization and growth of Bangladesh College of Medical professionals and Surgeons at a price of around Taka 215.43 crore.

The various other projects approved in the meeting are: protection of most suitable embankment of the River Jamuna close to Brahmangram-Hatpachil and adjacent areas under Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj and strengthening of Betil Spur-1 and Enayetpur Spur-2 at a cost of Taka 647.49 crore, rehabilitation of Tangon barrage, Buri embankment and Bhulli embankment irrigation task under Thakurgaon district, riverbank safety and integrated water control infrastructures construction at a price of around Taka 296.36 crore, agriculture seed expansion and growth through bio technology at a price of around Taka 72.35 crore, and erection of Bakhrabad-Meghnaghat-Haripur gas transmission pipeline involving around Taka 1,304.62 crore.
