Dynamic Celebration Lighting is looking for ‘community heroes’
Dynamic Celebration Lighting — a new holiday lighting company based in Limerick — wants to brighten someone’s holiday this year. And the company wants the community to help find the right person.
The company has launched its first Holiday Lights for Heroes initiative. The company is seeking nominations for community heroes that have made a difference in the community and will reward one person with a home holiday lighting installation valued at $2,000.
“This year has been a difficult year for so many — the economy finding jobs, people out of work, food insecurity in the area. I figured there have been a lot of people that have stepped up to lift spirits and help others.” said Kirk Brown, owner of Dynamic Celebration Lighting, a spin-off of Kirk’s Lawn Care.
Brown said the company is accepting nominations online for community heroes at holidaylightsforheroes.com through Nov. 20.
“I thought it would be cool to highlight those people and reward one of them with something to bring their spirits up, when they have been doing so much for so many other people,” he added.
The nomination form asks for the name, address and phone number of both the nominee and the person submitting the nomination. In addition, the form asks for the relationship between nominee and nominator.
The person making the nomination is asked to describe what makes the nominee a community hero, and why they should receive the holiday lighting package.
“People can nominate a community hero they know — a spouse coworker, friend or neighbor — anyone they feel is deserving of a home holiday lights makeover,” Brown said.
A community hero could be someone that has been on the front line of the pandemic or that started a nonprofit to help others. He said the website “loosely” defines what a hero is.
“We didn’t want to put too many parameters on it, because we want to find some unique and inspiring stories,” he added.
Once the nomination period ends. Brown and his team will go through the nominations, looking for unique stories. He expects to announce the winner by the end of November.
The winner will receive a holiday lighting display worth up to $2,000. The package will include the installation of the lights, maintenance if lights go out during the holidays, extension cords and timers, takedown and storage.
Brown launched Dynamic Celebration Lighting this year, for a couple of reasons, he said. Adding another seasonal business helps to ensure continued employment for his Kirk’s Lawn Care employees.
He added that holiday lighting is something he is passionate about and has experience with.
“I have been doing it for so long — both on a personal level at my house and on a professional level,” he said, adding that he has done installations and consulting.
Dynamic Celebration Lighting will install holiday displays across Berks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties — basically within about an hour of Royersford. However, he said he has done estimates in Lancaster.
“We go all over for holiday lighting,” he added.
Brown launched his lawn care company — Kirk’s Lawn Care as a full-time business and career in 2014, but it was a company he had been “growing” since he was 12. Kirk’s Lawn Care provides complete lawn and shrub care services, as well as snow shoveling and plowing in the winter. The company serves southern Montgomery and northern Chester counties.
A 2010 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, Brown has stayed involved with the school district. Six years ago, he started an Excellence in Horticulture scholarship award at the high school designated for a horticulture student who has displayed “exemplary attitude and extraordinary skill development.”
