Dream71 to help Bhutan digitalise citizen service
The Bhutanese government has sought the Bangladeshi software development company Dream71’s support in formulating plans for digitalising services, in yet another pat on the back for the country’s information and communications technology industry.
Previously, local Dohatec designed Bhutan’s electronic government procurement system.
The development comes after Dream71 was invited to the landlocked nation by its health ministry last week. The Dream71 delegation met with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.
“They sought our support in enhancing their capabilities in the digital field,” Rashad Kabir, Dream71’s managing director, told The Daily Star upon his return.
Coincidentally, Tshering is a graduate of Mymensingh Medical College’s 28th batch. Health Minister Dechen Wangmo, who had also lived in Dhaka and worked in Brac, had initially sought Dream71’s support in digitalising their health system, Kabir said.
The delegation also met the information and communication minister, principal secretary, president of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and some other top officials.
“We will sit with their senior officials again and try to provide support as much possible,” Kabir added.
Dream71 started out as a games developer and has now become a full-fledged software company with clients in 14 countries, including Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands and the UAE.
It has particularly developed expertise in creating human resource and tax software.
Recently, Dream71 expanded their network to Africa and struck an agreement with Melt Group, a company specialising in recruitment, selection, workforce management, staffing and professional training, for various ventures in Africa.
