CUET teacher seeking PhD in US dies
Avijit Hira, an assistant professor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) pursuing PhD in Marquette University in Wisconsin, passed away in america on Thursday.
He "died unexpectedly" within E-Hall on Thursday morning hours (local period), according to Marquette Cable, the official outlet of the university's student media, studies UNB.
Within an email to Marquette students, faculty and staff, the university’s President Michael Lovell described Hira as a gifted scholar, highlighting his study in wireless networks and encryption technology. He previously completed 12 publications.
The university was scheduled to sponsor a Prayer Service of Remembrance for Hira on Fri.
CUET PR Officer Rashedul Islam told UNB that Hira trained at the Section of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and visited the US in 2019 to pursue PhD in Marquette University.
Avijit Hira, boy of Miran Kanti Hira of Tuthamandra village found in Gopalganj district, was 27 at the time of his death.
CUET Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam expressed profound shock in the demise of the adolescent teacher.
“Avijit Hira was a good talented teacher. His death caused an irreparable reduction to CUET,” stated Dr Alam.
The CUET Teachers’ Association also mourned the demise of their colleague.
A good memorial discussion will be held on Monday up coming at the TSC auditorium of CUET, the university authorities said.
