Covid-19: Bangladesh seeks 1.6m AstraZeneca doses from UK
Bangladesh has urged the uk (UK) to supply 1.6 million Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses to meet up its urgent needs for the completion of second dose vaccination.

While talking with ITV News, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen termed vaccine problem in Bangladesh as a "crisis".

Dr Momen likewise said the UK government should support their Commonwealth member says in this regard.

Bangladesh has received 7 million Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses produced by Serum Institute of India (SII) through its deal. 

Bangladesh also received 3.3 million doses of vaccine as a bilateral partnership gift. This can be a largest amount sent from India to any region.

Bangladesh was likely to get five million doses of the vaccine per month due to the SII and Bangladesh’s Beximco Pharma signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for priority delivery of the vaccine doses.

Despite request for the mandatory doses, the UK government earlier knowledgeable that they didn't have the capacity, Dr Momen told ITV Reports.
