Cops now help Rangpur farmers harvest paddy
Following volunteers and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RMP) have joined farmers harvesting paddy amid scarcity of labors and low paddy price this season.

On Saturday (May 24), RMP Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud and his colleagues harvested and thrashed paddy of Rangpur city ward-4 Khotkhotia area farmer Abdul Majid.

"Police have started harvesting paddy, from self-motivation, so that the ripe paddy don't get damaged," said Alim.

"This initiative of RMP will continue until finishing Boro paddy harvest,".

"Police are standby the countrymen like in the Liberation War of 1971," added the commissioner.

Economic development of the country has led to income increase of people. There is no poverty in the country and therefore labor crisis has emerged, Alim said further.

Additional Police Commissioner Abu Sufian, Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Kazi Muttaqi Ibn Minan and Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarter) Abdullah Al Faruq, among others, accompanied Alim.

"I hope we the farmers will get legal price of paddy," farmer Majid said expressing gratitude to the policemen.
