Chemical factories to be shifted by June 2022
Chemical factories in Dhaka will be shifted to Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upaizla by June 2022, said State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman.

He made the disclosure after a meeting of inter-ministerial disaster management coordination committee at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed about the probe reports on Old Dhaka's Churihatta and Banani fire incidents .

Besides, the chemical warehouses will be relocated to Kadamtali and Tongi by June 2020, the state minister added. 

UNB adds: The Minister said it was the demand of the country's people that the chemical warehouses located in the city's residential areas to be shifted to a place outside the capital.

"We have come to know from a report of the Industries Ministry that 310 acres of land have been allocated in Sirajdikhan upazila for relocating the chemical warehouses. 2,154 plots will be allotted there involving Tk 1700 crore," he said.

"We have got the investigation report of Churihatta fire incident. In this report we have got five short-term 26 long-term recommendations. We have discussed these recommendations at the meeting," he said.

Representatives from 22 ministries were present at the meeting.
