Chandrakala premieres 'Dwita Manab'
Theatre troupe Chandrakala Theatre premiered its new play titled 'Dwita Manab' on Friday at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The play, written and directed by H R Anik, addresses historical characters like Adolf Hitler, Henry Alfred Kissinger, Ghaseti Begum and Mir Jafar Ali Khan Bahadur, who are known for their manipulation of the masses for personal gains.

The play revolves around a writer named Shanto, enacted by H R Anik, who is struggling to write his novel while the publisher continuously pressurises him for the manuscript. A frustrated Shanto quarrels with his wife Sheuly, played by Nishi. The four historical characters come into the scene at this stage of their life.

The four characters conspire to have the couple murder each other. After Shanto murders his wife, they tell him to commit suicide that he obliges to. 'We want to portray how these historical characters conspired against fellow human beings,' H R Anik, director of the play, told New Age.

'The play beautifully criticises the nefarious characters of history. I hope theatre troupes will produce more plays of the sort in the near future,' Tanny Jahan, an audience member, said.
