Cellular phone use becoming costlier
Mobile telephone users must pay even more as the government has proposed extra supplementary duty (SD) in the national cover fiscal year 2020-21.
Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal proposed hike of SD on the services being provided using cellular phone SIM/RIM to 15 percent from the existing 10 percent.
Mobile phone users are actually paying 15 percent benefit added tax (VAT), ten percent SD and 1 percent surcharge on the costs of their telephone call, internet and different usages.
With the brand new tax ratio, customers would have to pay 33.twenty five percent tax for cellular phone use.
