Dr Rajib, who received sever shed injuries in a fire caused from disinfectant hand sanitizer at his house, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning hours.

After seven days' of battle for life, he breathed his last around 8:30am at the burn up unit of Sheikh Hasina National Burn off and COSMETIC SURGERY Institute.

Dr Rajib Bhattacharjee, 36,was the Neurosurgery Section at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University

His wife Anushua Bhattacharjee, the registrar of the Eye Department of Shyamoli Central Medical, was also burnt 20 % in the incident. She actually is also in vital condition at a healthcare facility.

The fire originated from liquid hand sanitizer when it came in contact with cigarette or Mosquito coil in the couple's property in city's Hatirpul area on July 21. Rajib, first caught on fire and, then, his wife when she arrived on her behalf husband's rescue.

The couple includes a five-year-old daughter.
