Budget proposal does not offer much to deal with the pandemic: CPD
The proposed budget does not have very much to offer regarding concrete measures and impressive policies to combat Covid-19 induced challenges, said Centre for Coverage Dialogue (CPD) today.
"Priority has been given to health, agriculture and job generation sectors found in the spending budget speech by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal," explained CPD Executive Director Fahmida Khatun at a good media briefing found in Dhaka today.
"However, actual allocation does not reflect these claims and they possess not been backed by sufficient resources," she added.
The independent think tank organised the media briefing to talk about its analysis on the Tk 6,03,680 crore national cover fiscal year 2021-22 beginning from July.
With around 40 percent allocation for expansion expenditure, public services, education and technology, transport and conversation and social reliability and welfare get higher share while share of sectors including health insurance and agriculture is leaner, said CPD at its briefing.
CPD Distinguished Fellow Prof Mustafizur Rahman, Analysis Director Khondaker Golam Moazzem and its Senior Study Fellow Towfiqul Islam Khan likewise spoke during the event.
