Brazil's Bolsonaro tests great for Covid-19
Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro has got tested positive for coronavirus.
He took the check, his fourth, on Monday after growing symptoms, including a higher temperature.
Mr Bolsonaro has repeatedly played down dangers of what he has called the "little flu", saying he'd not be seriously damaged. He possesses opposed lockdowns, which he says hurt the economy.
Brazil gets the second-highest quantity of Covid-19 situations and deaths in the world, after the US.
What did Mr Bolsonaro say?
He made the announcement found in a Tv set interview on Tuesday, saying the fever he had been experiencing had opted down and that he felt "perfectly".
Mr Bolsonaro said that he previously started experiencing symptoms on Sunday. He stated he had had a high temperature, a cough and acquired felt unwell.
He added that on Mon he previously felt worse, which prompted him to have the coronavirus test.
Mr Bolsonaro is in a higher-risk group as a result of his age, 65.
He said he was acquiring hydroxychloroquine - championed by US President Donald Trump - and azithromycin, an antibiotic, to treat the illness. Neither has been verified to work against the virus.
Contact tracing and testing will be completed for the persons Mr Bolsonaro offers met recently.
His previous three checks for the virus all came back negative.
The executive director of the Environment Health Firm, Dr Mike Ryan, wished President Bolsonaro "a speedy and full recovery from this disease", adding: "I believe the message to people is: we are susceptible to this virus."
What had he previously said?
Back April, Mr Bolsonaro said that regardless if infected, he'd "not need to worry as We wouldn't feel anything, for the most part it would be such as a little flu or a little cold".
The quantity of Covid-19-related deaths and infections - at that time under 3,000 and 40,000 - has since soared.
Not surprisingly, President Bolsonaro has argued that regional lockdowns are having a more damaging effect compared to the virus itself, and accused the media of spreading panic and paranoia.
His other responses on the virus include:
11 March:"From what I have seen as yet, there are other types of flu which have killed more persons than that [coronavirus] one"
18 March: "Today we've information, that because we've a more tropical climate [in Brazil] we've almost reached the end [of the pandemic], or it's already over... the virus doesn't spread as fast in heat climates like ours"
20 March: "After being stabbed, I'm not going to be brought down by a little flu"
He has since continued to rail against methods that he deems "dictatorial" such as the closing beaches or perhaps requirements to wear encounter coverings.
On Mon, he made further adjustments to a regulation that could require Brazilians to wear masks in public areas.
He has attended numerous public events with out a mask, even though local guidelines required him to wear an individual.
On Sunday, Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo published a photo on public media showing himself with President Bolsonaro and other folks attending an Independence Day time celebration at the united states embassy in Brasilia.
None of these in the photography is wearing a mask or observing social distancing.
The US embassy said that the ambassador had had lunch with Mr Bolsonaro and others on 4 July. It added that the ambassador got no symptoms but that he'd undergo testing.
