Bogura-6 by-election underway
Voting in the by-election of Bogura-6 constituency is underway peacefully on Monday.
It started at 9am in 141 voting centres and will continue till 5pm without any break.
The constituency was declared vacant as BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who was elected from the seat in the December 30 parliamentary election, did not take oath as a member of parliament.
Two independent candidates are also competing in this by-election.
There are 387,458 voters -- 191,668 males and 195,790 females - in the constituency.
Nearly 3,000 personnel from law-enforcement agencies, including police, Ansar and RAB, have been deployed in the polling stations in order to complete the elections fairly and peacefully.
