Body of boy recovered in Dhaka canal
Rescuers recovered the body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in a canal at Adabor in Dhaka.

They found the boy in the canal around 10:15pm on Friday and took him immediately to Zainul Haque Sikder Women's Medical College Hospital in the area, a Fire Service official said.

Police and Fire Service launched the search operation for the boy in the canal at Nobodoy Housing area around 6pm, reports bdnews24.com

Adabor Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Abu Zafar Shamsuddin told bdnews24.com the residents of the area called them on the 999 emergency helpline, saying a boy drowned in the canal while fetching a ball. “A shopkeeper saw the boy drowning.”

Police identified the boy as ‘Jisan’, son of Abul Hashem. The family lives in one of the tin-roofed buildings along the canal.
