BNP’s nationwide demo seeking Khaleda’s release Wednesday
BNP on Saturday announced to stage demonstrations across the country on March 11 (Wednesday) demanding let go of Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Party’s Secretary Standard Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program after a meeting of the standing up committee participants at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan workplace at night.

Fakhrul said what Khaleda’s relatives said about the BNP chief’s health conditions after getting together with her is a matter of concern. “They (members of the family) also said they happen to be uncertain whether they’ll reunite her alive as her health isn't improving,” he said, urging the federal government to do something for releasing her from jail.

The BNP innovator said their party’s city and district units will stage demonstrations on Wednesday to push for the former prime minister’s release.

BNP standing committee customers Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Selima Rahman and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku were present at the assembly that started 6pm and finished around 9:30pm.

Earlier in the day, five of Khaleda's family, including her sister Selima Islam, more youthful brother Shamim Eskandar, his wife Kaniz Fatema and boy Ovik Eskandar and Selima’s daughter Samiya Eskandar met the BNP chairperson at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Khaleda has been in jail since she was first convicted found in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption circumstance on February 8, 2018. She was determined guilty in another corruption circumstance later the same time, though her party promises both cases are politically motivated.

The BNP chief has been acquiring treatment at the BSMMU since April 1 last year.
