BNP men clash with police; torch vehicles
Police lobbed tear gas shells and charged batons on BNP leaders and activists in front of Nayapaltan party office in the capital on Wednesday noon.
Witnesses said a chase and counter-chase ensued when police tried to disperse the gathering of BNP men in front of the party office which disrupted vehicular movement centering the party's nomination form sale for the third consecutive day.
Meanwhile, BNP men were seen setting fire to a police van and some other vehicles. They also vandalised vehicles and threw brick chips aiming at police.
But fire fighting units could not enter the area as BNP activists obstructed them.
Some were injured.
Traffic in the area came to a halt following the clash.
BNP men are trying to brought out procession. A large number of police took position near the party office.
