Batsmen increase causes for concern
Bangladesh were whitewashed by the West Indies just after losing the next Test, falling 17 works short of a 219-run focus on. Having staged a dramatic comeback by bowling the Windies out for 117 in their second essay, Bangladesh's batting was dismantled on the 4th day inside two periods.

The Tigers were guilty of playing shots which signalled a desire to complete the chase inside those two sessions. Captain Mominul Haque stated that the target was achievable, but felt their plans didn't bear fruit or that they would have to be more concrete regarding effectiveness.

Bangladesh had gone in to the match convinced that all spinners would look for favour in the pitch. That backfired and the Windies electing to bat first of all designed that the Tigers would have to bat in the 4th innings on a pitch that saw some sharpened turners. But without engaging in the pitch's characteristics, they typically failed miserably within their approach to countering the Windies spin on a playable surface area. In effect, it had been the Tigers' mental methodology that did not fit Test level mentality.

"I think the mark was chaseable but we collapsed in the most notable and middle buy and maybe that's why we didn't reach the mark. I don't feel that in the four days we played, the wicket was that difficult at any time. In worldwide cricket, you change if there is usually a hard wicket. There is no odd bounce and perhaps only Cornwall got some bounce due to his height. But mainly because batsmen and professional players, must have adjusted to that. We couldn't do this and that's why the overall game went of our hands," Mominul said following the match.

Although that they had found a good start through Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh were guilty of shots fit for shorter-version cricket and their failings were in part due to attempting to finish the game in a hurry.

"Our batting broke and we couldn't go back from that, neither in the 1st nor the second. There is absolutely no specific reason but we couldn't generate our strategies a reality."

Without Shakib, among the team's strike bowlers, the only available option was to include another pacer. Bangladesh performed Soumya Sarkar as an opener although he was not section of the announced Check squad after the team management cannot place their faith in Saif Hassan. Mohammad Mithun was picked in the eleven to bolster the batting but the staff think-tank's mindset started to be a reason behind fallibility.

"We didn't play great cricket in the next innings," Mominul said. "We must focus on our issues and program things.

"Without Shakib bhai, it becomes quite difficult to formulate the workforce combination. We had a few concerns and we required a medium pacer who could bat. Soumya has encounter and in addition played the ODIs. That's why I picked him however when you lose, it would appear that you will find a lot lacking.

"I do think we have improved [in Tests] but we haven't improved a lot. But there is absolutely no end to improving."

Following first Test, if they could not have the ability to defend 395 with the ball, the focus was only today shifting to batting aswell as to the areas that require deeper contemplation.

"Batsmen need to make a behavior of performing big innings and also batting for a long time. That's the most important," he concluded.
