Bangla Academy to honor three veterans
Rabindra researcher Professor Safiuddin Ahmed, Begum Akhtar Kamal and Rabindra Sangeet singer Iqbal Ahmed will be been bestowed with 'Rabindra Puroshkar 2019' (Rabindra Award) this year.

The awards will be handed over to the recipients at a function at the Bangla Academy's Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium in the capital today.To celebrate the 158th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore, Bangla Academy is organizing the event featuring keynote speech, award ceremony and cultural program.

Earlier, the Rabindra Award was given to singer Kalim Sharafi and Professor Dr Sanjida Khatun in 2010, Dr Ahmad Rafique and singer Ajit Ray in 2011, Anisur Rahman, Fahmida Khatun and Iffat Ara Dewan in 2012, Dr Karunamoy Goswamy and singer Papiya Sarwar  in 2013, Monjur e Maula and singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya in 2014, Professor Sanat Kumar Saha  and singer Sadi Mohammad in 2015, Professor Syed Akram Hossain and singer Tapan Mahmud in 2016, Professor Hayat Mahmud and singer Mita Haque in 2017, researcher Abul Momen and singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury in 2018.
