She said the time-befitting decisions ofBangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa had helped the country achieve its desired goal -- the independence.

She said Bangamata was the source of all encouragement, power and courage for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to work for the development and welfare of people.

"My mother always encouraged him to do politics for the people of this country, never pulled him back, she never cared for her own interests; even she never thought what she will get in life," she said.

Hasina said Bangamata helped the Father of the Nation from behind the scene and Bangabandhu could become the great leader as she was beside him.

About the influence of Bangabandhu's wife in his political life, Hasina said Bangamata helped Bangabandhu in taking various important political decisions.

She mentioned the suggestions of her mother to Bangabandhu before he had gone to deliver the historic Match 7th address at Suhrawardy Uddyan in 1971.

Hasina said Bangabandhu used to learn about the leaders and workers of the party through his wife when she met him injail during the Pakistan period.
