ATM Shamsuzzaman  receives Bulbul Ahmed Memorial Award
Ekushey Padak winning ailing actor ATM Shamsuzzaman has been conferred Bulbul Ahmed Memorial Award by Bulbul Ahmed Foundation. Shamsuzzaman is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

Bulbul Ahmed's widow actress Daisy Ahmed and daughter Tahsin Farzana handed over the award to ATM Shamsuzzaman at BSMMU on Sunday marking the death anniversary of Bulbul Ahmed, who passed away on July 15, 2010.

The foundation honors one artiste every year for his/her contribution to the film industry with the memorial award. Born in 1941, Bulbul Ahmed joined the television in 1968. 

Bulbul Ahmed's first appearance in films was in 1973 when he played a supporting character in 'Iye Korey Biye'. Soon he appeared in a central role in the film 'Jibon Niye Jua'. Bulbul Ahmed earned viewers' popularity after playing key male role in films like 'Devdas', 'Simana Periye', 'Shurjo Konya', 'Rupali Shoikotey', 'Bodhu Bidaay' and 'Bodnaam'. He has also directed four movies- 'Rajlakkhi Srikanta', 'Akorshon', 'Gorom Haowa' and 'Koto Je Apo'.
