Three muggers held in city
Police arrested three suspected muggers from Atarbibi Lane of Malibagh area in the city scrutinizing video footage which went viral on social media recently.
The arrestees are Farhad Fakir, Yousuf Ali and Jasim Matabbar.
A gang of muggers who snatched away mobile phones, ATM cards and cash from rickshaw passenger Monir Uddin showing sharp weapons at Malibagh 1st lane around 10:00 am on March 1, UNB reports.
The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media immediately after it.
Briefing reporters at Shahjahanpur Police Station, Assistant Commissioner (Sabujbagh Zone) Md Rashed Hasan said police started investigating into the case after Monir filed a case with the police station on Friday night.
After investigation, they arrested the trio from Malibagh Atarbibi lane on Friday night.
Two sharp weapons and local made firearms were recovered from their possessions, the AC (Sabujbagh) added.
