Another 2m dosages of COVID vaccine gets to Dhaka
Another shipment of 2 million dosages of a vaccine against the coronavirus has already reached Bangladesh.

A special jet air travel from Mumbai arrived with the vaccine at Dhaka's Shahjalal AIRPORT TERMINAL around 12:15am Tuesday.

With the latest shipment, a complete of 9 million doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine made by the Serum Institute of India have already been handed over to Bangladesh, reviews media.

Serum, the most significant vaccine manufacturer on the globe, is supplying 30 million doses of the vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, to Bangladesh.

Besides two million doses as gift idea from the Indian government, Serum sent five million doses last month in the first batch of the import.

People need to take two doses of the Oxford vaccine, COVISHIELD, with a booster shot eight to 12 weeks following the first.

Beximco Pharma, the sole distributor of the vaccine found in Bangladesh, decided to bring another shipment from the Serum Institute for exclusive sale, but the company halted the program because Bangladesh received more than enough shots through the federal government channel.

Besides the doses purchased from Serum, Bangladesh is expected to bypass 12.8 million COVISHIELD dosages in the first 1 / 2 of 2021 under COVAX, the World Health Organization-led scheme.
