Anisuzzaman gets SAARC Literature Award 2019
National Professor Anisuzzaman has been nominated for the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Literature Award 2019, reports BSS.The award will be handed over on May 21 in Bhutan, said a press release of Bangla Academy here.
Anisuzzaman, also the president of Bangla Academy, is the fourth Bangladeshi to receive the award. On hearing the announcement, Bangla Academy held a warm reception in honor of Anisuzzaman at its Shaheed Munier Chowdhury Seminar Room.
Bangla Academy Director General Habibullah Sirajee presented floral wreath to Anisuzzaman on the occasion. Academy Secretary Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Professor Nirukumar Chakma, Professor Pradip Kumar Rai, Dr Israil Khan, poet Quazi Rosy and directors, deputy directors and officials and employees of Bangla Academy were present at the event.
